Brent Anderson

Brent Anderson is a Nashville guitarist, songwriter and producer. You may know the songs before you know his name. He has co-written hits recorded by artists including Blake Shelton, Ashley Monroe, Scotty McCreery and Hootie & the Blowfish, while also working as a session player in Nashville.

I first met Brent and his wife, Desiree, when they booked a regular tintype session a couple of months earlier. One Take was already beginning to take shape in my head, and when I learned that Brent was a session player and songwriter, I told them about the idea.

They immediately understood what I was trying to do.

Desiree believed in it enough that she began reaching out to other people she thought should be part of the project. Some of the sittings that followed grew directly out of those conversations.

When Brent came back for One Take, he brought his Santa Cruz guitar with him. We spent some time talking about the guitar, and he played a little in the studio while I was getting everything ready. I also made a plate of the guitar itself for him.

Brent is also exactly the kind of person I had hoped One Take would document. His name may not be familiar to everyone listening to the songs, but his work is part of the music people already know.
